Wildlife Tip of The Week

Is it illegal for me to catch poiosnous / venomous snakes?

There are a number of laws and regulations across the states that protect humanity from the threat of venomous and dangerous snakes. In most states, it's illegal to keep a venomous snake as a pet (for obvious reasons), and before you take any action, regardless of whether you think it might be a venomous snake or not, I would always suggest two thingsproceed with caution (to make sure you don't die), and do your research. Your local city or council offices will be able to help you out with the laws, and a quick internet search should reveal the answers. The laws will differ across each state. The legalities of catching venomous snakes aside, it is very obviously a dangerous action. There are less deaths by snakes in Florida per year than there are lightning deaths, and it roughly amounts to one death for every four or five years. This is because most humans would try to stay away from the snake however, venomous or otherwise. If you go out to seek out the snake and more than that, trap it yourself, you are putting yourself right in the line of danger.
