Wildlife Tip of The Week
Ideally you shouldn't be looking at killing a snake in your yard. Snakes have many benefits for the local ecosystem and the number one reason why you should definitely leave the creature well alone is that it kills many of the rodents that we would want in our homes even lessthings like rats and mice. This is the staple diet for many of the snakes in our wilderness, and to be fair, many of them are not spotted out in the open anyway. Most of them are not really aggressive in nature and would much rather slope off avoiding a fight. If you leave them well alone, they'll usually do the sameleave you well alone. That's why you shouldn't look at killing them. There are always humane ways of dealing with any wild animal invasion and although snakes can be slightly more dangerous than some of the others because of the risk of the snake itself being venomous, there isn't any need to kill the animal. A wildlife rehabilitator would relocate the snake after they have trapped it rather than killing it.
