Wildlife Tip of The Week

Do snake traps work, or are they bogus?

Although it isn't advisable to try and trap a snake, it can be done with some care and caution. You just need to be sure you don't get close enough to the snake to enable it to lash out and bite youit could be venomous and even if it's not a venomous speak of snake, the bite itself could still prove rather painful, something I'm sure you don't want. There is also a risk of the trap not working quite as it should, agitating an jalread-angered inks even further. If you have young children or pets in your home, this is a very bad move. The snake won't care if your child is just thata child, they'll still lash out and bite him or her if they get too close. You should only ever try to catch a snake once you are one hundred percent sure it is NOT a venomous snake, and even then, I wouldn't advise it. If you have super-thick gloves to hand, you could try to grab the snake and place it in a pillow case (and then inside a large plastic container with air-holes), until you can take it somewhere nice and safe in the wild to then release it. If you don't have the necessary equipment to hand to SAFELY capture this little beast, always call in the professionalsthey always have the right tools for the job. (And they'll make sure the job gets done without anyone getting hurt!)
