Wildlife Tip of The Week
Rats are mortal, like all of the animals on Earth, and have no super power that saves them from death. Rats are very hardy, resilient animals, and they can live in the worst places imaginable, but they cannot cheat death. You can kill a rat in your home in any way that you want, though some methods will be much more effective and efficient than others. Most professionals opt to use snap traps. The snap trap kills the rat instantly. Glue traps and electrocution traps are not as successful, though this is due to design flaws. Killing rats does not mean poisoning rats. Even if you're lucky enough to get the rats to eat the poison—which they rarely do—the animals will then create a much more serious issue for you. The smell associated with dead animals is enough to make some people very ill. If you poison rats, they will crawl into your walls and then die. To get rid of the resulting odor, you need to have the walls opened up and the bodies removed. It is far easier to deal with live rats than dead ones. The snap trap will prevent any rats from sneaking into tight spaces, and once it has been tripped, it can be reused.
