Wildlife Tip of The Week

Does bird/pigeon shock track work?

It sounds a little crazy but sometimes you just need to shock a bird into staying away. It's not something out of ‘Angry Birds', shock track is a real thing that you can buy to keep birds just like pigeons from roosting in and around your home. The electrically charged and flexible track can be installed in many placesalong the tops of walls or windowsills, rooftops, etc. Whenever the pigeon lands on the strip, an electric shock will be sent off. The shock is tiny so it won't harm the bird in any way but it will be uncomfortable enough to make the bird want to move. Eventually, with enough electric shocks, the bird will simply not come back, and will also communicate to other birds / pigeons to stay away. Of course there are other animal to worry about, so if you want some birds to land in your garden and other birds not to land in your garden, this probably isn't a great idea. Pigeons might not be good but other pretty little birds are always welcome and these shock tracks are likely to scare these away also. However, if you want an aesthetically pleasing and easy to install way of getting rid of pigeons, this isn't a bad option. Just remember that everything comes with a piece and these shock tracks can be quite expensive!
