Wildlife Tip of The Week

Deadliest snake in United States

The deadliest snake in United States is not necessarily the snake with the most toxic venom. The coral snake is the most feared of all the venomous snakes in the state; however, infrequent sighting and bites makes this snake less fear than one of weaker venom. The most dangerous snake in United States is the rattlesnake. There are three species of rattlesnakes in United States, and the worst one of them all is the diamondback rattler. It is one of the most venomous snakes in the world, and it is not one that backs down from a fight like some of the other pit vipers in America. The venom in the rattlesnake is hemotoxic, affecting living tissue and causing necrosis. If left untreated, the venom from a rattlesnake bite will go systemic and can result in fatality. Rattlesnakes are not looking prey on humans, but their unique coloration makes them easily stepped on or picked on purely by accident. The rattle sound associated with a snake warning may not be enough to tell you where the animal is. Their camouflage is so efficient, the snake could be two feet from you and you would not see it.
