Wildlife Tip of The Week
If you've had birds or pigeons roosting in your attic, managed to get rid of them, and want to make sure the problem doesn't return, you'll need to put a little work in. You could start by making sure all the cracks and holes are sealed to stop these birds from gaining access to your home which, of course, means you'll need to do a good inspection of the property. Pay particular attention to the areas that would normally invite a critter inaround chimneys and windows, where the roof meets the wall, around vents, etc. You can use needles or spikes on the roof to prevent any damage, and you can also buy spikes for inside the guttering to prevent them from making their nest in there too. Shock tracks are great for places like accommodating window sills or ledges, a slightly more discreet option to the big and obvious spike strips. You could look at bird coils also but these again come with their fair share of negatives, and you could also purchase gels which the birds don't like landing on. This is a good short-term option when you're trying to consider your next step. Bird netting should be bird nettingDon't just use any old netting. The wrong netting will entrap birds and kill them, not prevent them from landing on your home.
